Jared Blong

Jared Blong is a results-oriented energy leader with a passion for innovation and stewardship. He founded Octane Energy in 2013 and has since grown it into a successful E&P and consultancy firm. Beyond his industry expertise, Jared is a dedicated community leader and entrepreneur, actively involved in organizations that promote responsible resource management, youth development, and human flourishing.

Jared Blong, a seasoned energy executive, boasts a successful operational and financial track record, marked by back-to-back listings on the Inc. 5000’s top 1000 in 2018 and 2019, and a 2020 asset sale with triple-digit returns. Passionate about stewardship and natural resource conservation, Jared excels in building and leading teams toward a future of excellence and innovation driven by an attitude of extreme ownership.

In 2013, he co-founded Octane Energy, a Permian-focused E&P and consultancy, leading the team to enable human flourishing by unlocking plentiful, reliable, and affordable energy. Octane operates 4,000 acres of its own in the Midland Basin and operates hundreds of wells for others. Since 2013, Jared has led teams in drilling, completing, and producing over 2,000 wells, with more than 30 million feet drilled and 100,000 stages frac’ed.

Jared also briefly served as President and COO of AquaSmart from 2020-2022, driving impactful water stewardship technologies in energy, agronomy, and infrastructure.

He serves on various boards and committees, showcasing his commitment to community and industry success. Jared earned his BBA focusing on international trade from Tarleton State University and is an Eagle Scout. He and his wife, Lori, and their three children reside in Midland, actively investing in the region and the oil and gas industry’s long-term flourishing.
