Jared Blong

A third-generation Texas oilman and a fifth-generation Texas rancher, Jared Blong brings a lifelong commitment to the stewardship of the land and its resources to the energy industry. This heritage informs his leadership as Founder and Co-CEO of Octane Energy, a Permian-based E&P and consultancy where he has overseen the construction and completion of more than 2,000 wells.

Jared’s expertise sits at the vital intersection of energy production and natural resource conservation. Driven by a personal passion for regenerative agriculture and rangeland restoration, he is deeply dedicated to the “conscientious conservation” of the Texas landscape. This commitment was amplified during his tenure as President and COO of AquaSmart (2020–2022), where he led the development and commercialization of technologies designed to “use water smarter” across the energy and agronomy sectors.

A native West Texan and Eagle Scout, Jared applies his multifaceted generational knowledge to sustainable land use on the board of STCH Land Management. He further serves on the advisory boards for the Permian Basin Water in Energy Conference and the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Life:Powered initiative. A former Chairman of the IADC Permian Basin Chapter, Jared remains a vocal advocate for an energy industry that drives human flourishing through extreme ownership of the resources it manages.
