Dr. Laura Ortiz-Huerta
Dr. Laura G. Ortiz-Huerta is a civil engineer and seismologist with the Railroad Commission of Texas, where she supports the Technical Permitting Section in seismicity-related evaluations and technical reviews associated with injection operations. With more than 15 years of experience in natural hazard assessment, earthquake and tsunami modeling, structural response analysis, and applied programming, she specializes in translating complex geoscience and engineering data into practical decision-support information.
Her work includes seismicity-related reviews, as well as cross-department technical support and data integration efforts. She also works with geophysical monitoring and visualization approaches, including InSAR-based deformation monitoring, to help interpret trends across operational and subsurface datasets.
At the Permian Basin Water in Energy Conference, Dr. Ortiz-Huerta will discuss how InSAR-based deformation monitoring can support trend interpretation and risk-informed reservoir management decisions.
