Luis Baez

Luis Baez is currently the Permian Basin Water Manager for ConocoPhillips. Since 2021, he has served as the Permian Basin Non-Operated Manager for both ConocoPhillips and Shell. Prior to this role, Luis was the International Unconventional Shales Manager for Shell, where he managed Shell’s inventory in Argentina, Ukraine, China, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia. In this capacity, he was responsible for the exploration, appraisal, field development, and optimization of various unconventional fields with diverse depositional settings.

Luis was the Technical Director and Exploration Manager for the development of Marcellus, Haynesville, and Eagle Ford Shales. Luis has extensive experience in the exploration and development of shales and coal seam gas projects operating in the US and several other countries.

He graduated as a Geologist from the University of Liverpool, England, in 2001. Luis currently serves with AAPG, SPE/AAPG/SEG URTEC and the SPE Permian Basin Energy Conference.
