Matthew Gabriel

Matt Gabriel is a serial entrepreneur who has founded and led several high-growth, innovative companies. He currently serves as CEO and board member of XRI, a company that he founded in 2013 that provides innovative water management, disposal, and water treatment and recycling solutions to the world’s most sophisticated energy companies. Matt spent an early part of his career as an attorney with Kirkland and Ellis, LLP in Chicago, specializing in complex corporate and private equity transactions. He then joined a venture capital firm based in Chicago where he seeded and helped develop high-growth, healthcare-focused technology companies. Matt then shifted his focus from investor to creator, co-founding several high-growth, technology-enabled companies in the defense and industrial sectors. Out of these start-ups, the idea for XRI was conceived. Matt helped lead the company’s formation of a strategic partnership with Morgan Stanley Energy Partners in 2016 and spearheaded its strategic transformation into one of the world’s largest water recycling companies. The long-term strategies and environmentally sensitive policies that Matt has developed during his tenure at XRI have helped revolutionize how the energy industry thinks about sustainable water usage. Mr. Gabriel is active on the Board of Advisors of Vanderbilt University Law School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Rollins College and a Juris Doctorate from Vanderbilt University.
